A private expense tracker with no bank sync
SimpleSpend does not connect to a bank. You type (or speak) the amount. Records stay on the device unless you turn on iCloud. There is no account to create before the first entry.
Local first
Open the app and log. The default store is on the phone or iPad you are holding. That is enough for a single device.
iCloud is optional, between your own iPhone and iPad, for personal ledgers. Shared ledgers use their own invite path and only include people you add.
What leaves the device
Exchange-rate requests send currency codes and dates, not your amounts or notes. App Store handles payment. If you turn on product analytics, that is a separate, off-by-default switch with no transaction text.
Voice capture stays in memory until you finish. The raw sentence is not written into the note field and is not uploaded.
Take a copy
Export CSV whenever you want a spreadsheet. That is the portable copy, not a lock-in format.
There are no ads and no sale of your book. The tradeoff is also plain: nobody else is typing your coffee into the log. You are.
Start a private SimpleSpend book
- Install SimpleSpend. Do not create a developer account; there isn’t one.
- Log the first expense on the device.
- Leave iCloud off if this phone should be the only copy.
- Export CSV when you want a file you can keep elsewhere.
Common questions
Can SimpleSpend read my bank transactions?
No. There is no bank connection and no statement import in this version.
Where do records live if I skip iCloud?
On the device. Deleting the app removes that local copy.
