A recurring expense tracker for iPhone
A recurring expense is a rule plus the rows it writes. Set the amount and the gap once. After a due date passes, open SimpleSpend and the missing days are filled in.
Rules live on one ledger
Each repeating charge belongs to a single book. That keeps a work stipend out of the household total, and it keeps the rule list short enough to audit.
The first save of a new repeating expense is also the first posted row. You do not create a template and a duplicate for the same day.
Free tier has a cap
Core tracking is free. Unlimited recurring rules are Pro, along with batch editing and merging categories. If you only have rent, a phone plan, and one membership, the free cap is meant to cover that.
When you hit the cap, you can still log one-off charges. You just cannot add another repeating rule until you remove one or upgrade.
Open the app to catch up
Posting happens on launch, not on a silent server clock. If you skip a week of logging, opening the app writes each due day in order.
Subscriptions are recurring expenses with an extra yearly view. Use the subscription mark when you care about annual cost; use a plain rule when you only need the next rent line.
Add a recurring expense in SimpleSpend
- Start a new expense on the right ledger.
- Fill amount, category, and account.
- Choose a repeating interval.
- Save, then open the app after the next due date so the following row can post.
Common questions
Is there a free limit on recurring rules?
Yes. Unlimited recurring rules are a Pro feature. Core one-off tracking stays free.
Do shared ledgers support recurring rules?
Not in this version. Recurring rules belong to personal ledgers. Shared books take ordinary entries.
